Edit File (Tag) Information

MP3 files support the inclusion of file information like Artist and Song Title. This information is stored in a "tag". Depending on the format of the tag, this information is stored either at the beginning or at the end of the MP3 file.

UltraPlayer allows you to add or edit the tag information in MP3 files. To do so:

  1. Open UltraPlayer.
  2. Add the MP3 file that you would like to edit to your playlist.
  3. Right-click on the song and select Edit/View File Info from the menu.

  4. This will open a box labeled "Song File Info".

  5. In this box, you can add or edit information in any fields that are not grayed out.
  6. When you are done, if you want to save your changes, press OK. If you want to discard your changes, press the Cancel button.

Some MP3 files contain information about an artist's web site. If you see an address listed at the bottom of the "Song File Info" box, you can visit that site by pressing the Go button next to the address.

Keep in mind that you cannot edit file information for MP3 files that are playing. You will also not be able to edit the file information for MP3 files that are read-only. For more information on this, see our FAQ.

WMA (Windows Media Audio) files also contain file information in tags. Currently UltraPlayer does not support the editing of these tags.
